DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Sunday\, February 1\, 2026     –     This short (1.1 mile) walk on a paved surface will be a great way to spend a cold afternoon with friends.  Big Elk Lake Recreation Area (South of Cornhusker Rd and East of 108th Street) is a new addition to Papillion and a haven for birds and lakeside wildlife. \nDirections:  From Giles Rd turn South onto 114th St.  Turn East at Cornhusker Rd and as you pass 108th St you will see the lake and the entrance. \nIf approaching from Hwy 370\, turn North onto 114th St.  Pass the intersection with Lincoln Rd (It has stoplights.) and proceed to Cornhusker Rd.  Turn East and just past 108th St you will see the lake and park entrance. \nLeader     –     Pamela M.    402-218-5714[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Hitchcock Nature Center in Iowa
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, November 16\, 2025     –     There will be two walk options in this beautiful park in The Loess Hills of Western Iowa.  the first will be walking out and back\, using the Fox Run Ridge Trail.  the second will take us down the hill into the woods an later back to the ridge for a scenic view of the Iowa countryside.  A walking stick may be helpful.  There is a $5 entrance fee. \nDirections:    Drive East on I-680 into Iowa\, which turns into County Hwy G37.  Once in Crescent\, thru left (North) at Casey’s gas station and drive 3.5 miles to the turnoff to Hitchcock Nature Center.  Meet at the Visitors’ Center in the park at the end of the road.
